Dr. Bruce Corrie blends his academic training as an economist with practical skills and experience in organizational leadership and community development.
As Dean, College of Business and Organizational Leadership at Concordia University he is working with colleagues to prepare undergraduate and graduate programs to be well prepared scholarly practitioners in the ever changing global economy.
In the community his new vision (and data) on the dynamic power of immigrant and ethnic capital has been well received by audiences ranging from the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis and the Minneapolis Foundation to the Rural Diversity, African American Marketing, El Pueblo Hispano and Minnesota Indian Economic Development Fund conferences. This vision has also been reflected in various policy changes at the state and local level and strengthened the work of non-profit organizations and individuals.
His views have appeared on various mainstream media outlets and the ethnic press including the national Lehrer News Hour, National Public Radio, Minnesota Public Radio, Midmorning (MPR), WCCO radio, KCCO Business Radio, WCCO TV, Almanac, the Pioneer Press, the Star Tribune, the Fargo Forum, La Prensa, Insight News, Finance and Commerce, The Business Journal, Asian American Press, The African News Journal, Hmong Times, Hmong Today, Korean Quarterly, India Abroad, and Asian Pages.
He has worked with the ALANA (African Latino Asian and Native American) communities to bring their collective voice, vision and assets to the larger community through policy forums, cable and television productions and collaborative organizations such as www.onemn.org and www.alanagreen.org.
He has served on federal, state, city and non-profit boards and committees such as the National Advisory Council of the United States Small Business Administration and the community advisory board of Twin Cities Public TV.
He has worked as a consultant to businesses, governments and organizations through his firm, The Innovative Edge, LLC. He has made presentations and led seminars on the leadership model he developed, Strategic Leadership, The PRISM Approach to a wide group of people including high ranking public officials from Nigeria and India.
He has received community service awards and recognitions from a wide range of institutions and organizations. The Governor’s Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. Commission presented him with the Economic Education Award, 2007 for this work.
He has traveled to 24 countries in 5 continents.
